This page gives an overview of the available roles in the University of Bergen's installation of Redmine on http://task.uib.no/

When you create a project in task.uib.no, you can give other people roles in the project. Depending on what kind of work flow has been activated for the project, the roles will give different possibilities and access in the project. Various rolesthat fit together have been designed and documented , but one is free to choose which roles to use . None of the roles is mandatory in any individual project.

Observer

(Norwegian: "Observatør")

The observer role is assigned by the project manager or project executive. Users are not accessible in the system until they have logged on once. The observer role has inspection and read access to the project and can make comments. Observers cannot amend status information.

Participant

(Norwegian: "Deltaker")

This role has full access to all processing functions for the relevant project data, such as creating a new case and uploading documents.

Project manager

(Norwegian: "Prosjektleder")

The project manager role has full access to the project data in his or her project. The project manager also has access to administer the project, amend status and assign roles and tasks to participants.

Project owner

(Norwegian: "Prosjekteier")

The project owner could typically be the person who ordered the project or the manager of the unit in which the project lies. The project owner of a project is often a member of the liaison group. Has the same rights as a participant and the liaison group.

Liaison Group

(Norwegian: Styringsgruppe")

In projects without a formally nominated liaison group, it may be appropriate to assign this role to the immediate manager or another person who is accountable or has follow up responsibility at a higher level. The liaison group role has the same rights as a participant and the project owner.

Project executive

(Norwegian:"Prosjektansvarlig")

The project executive role gives access to create projects. The project executive role shall only be available to the second or third level of the project tree and given to those who have been delegated responsibility to create projects in their part of the organisation. For example in the project MNFA (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences), this role could be given to one or two persons at each institute who would then be responsible for delegating further in their part of the tree. This is consequently a more administrative role.
