Why recommended models?

The IT Department must ensure that mobile phones can be used with UiB's mail and calendar systems, and that we are able to provide basic user support for the phone.

To do this we need to control the range of models that are purchased. Not all brands and models can be used with our systems, nor are we able to provide user support with models other than the ones we have tested and approved (above).

Other mobile phones / PDAs may be purchsed (as long as UiB's purchasing policies are adhered to), but one can not expect to get the phone connected to UiB's systems for sunchronization of calendar, contacts, etc., or to get assistance with configuration or use. User support should be provided by the supplier.

Please direct any questions regaring mobile phone configuration to the service desk BRITA.
