Thunderbird
Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source email client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. It is standard on all Windows and Linux computers run by the IT department. It is also standard mail client for all new employees at UiB and Uni Research. If you want Outlook for calendar funcionality etc., you may send a request to the IT department or call (555) 84700.
Problems with Thunderbird
The Thunderbird account settings should be done automatically on UiB computers run by the IT department, according to who is logged on to the computer. If this is not working, or if you have another problem in Thunderbird, you may try to shut down the program and run the Thunderbird fix. (Windows: Start - Support - Reset Thunderbird). Be aware that if you have made your own settings inside the program, these may have to be redone afterwards.
You may also look for a solution in a FAQ, the Mozilla project or by a general web search.
If you need help, please register an issue in https://bs.uib.no or call BRITA on (555) 84700.
Thunderbird setup on a non-UiB computer
The Norwegian page about Thunderbird setup may be helpful for setting up UiB email in Thunderbird on a computer not run by the IT department.
The general information about UiB email setup should be useful for all email clients.
