You can connect to the UiB network using VPN
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a way to connect to the UiB network even if you are outside of our campus. Thus you may access UiB's IT services such as eget hjemmeområde and fellesområder) even if you are not in the university area.
VPN also provides a more secure data connection both on UiBs landline network and on the internet.
VPN connection to UiB can be used form computers connected to the Internet, e.g. from studentby-nett, via ADSL hjemme, via WIFI on campus or på reise.
For the time being, UiB provides three different services for VPN, This is necessary because there is no single service that works well with all the different systems and gadgets our users need to connect.
