Mozilla Thunderbird is a free, open source email client developed by the Mozilla Foundation. It is standard on all Windows and Linux computers run by the IT department. It is also the standard mail client for all new employees at UiB and Uni Research. If you want Outlook for calendar funcionality etc., you may send a request to bs.uib.no or call BRITA at (555) 84700.

Problems with Thunderbird

All Thunderbird account settings should be done automatically on UiB computers run by the IT department, according to who is logged on to the computer. If this is not working, or if you are having other problems, you can try the following:

  1. Shut down the program.
  2. Run the Thunderbird fix. (Windows: Start - Support - Reset Thunderbird). Important note!: Be aware that if you have made your own settings inside the program, these may have to be redone afterwards.

You may also look for a solution to your problems at the Mozilla project pages or by doing a general web search.

If you need further help, please register an issue in bs.uib.no or call BRITA at (555) 84700.

Thunderbird setup on a non-UiB computer

This page about Thunderbird setup may be helpful for setting up UiB an email account in Thunderbird on a private computer (e.g not run by the IT department).
