Email can be read in different ways:

  • Using a email client like Outlook or Thunderbird. Computers installed by the IT department will be configured with an email client.
  • Online access using a standard web-browser like Firefox, Opera, Internet Explorer, and more.

Everyone at University of Bergen can check their email at: https://webmail.uib.no

If you are a student: log in to RASMUS

If you are an employee: log in to ALF or KALENDER (if you have Outlook Exchange account)

Mozilla Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is ready to use on all computers installed by the IT department.

Unless, are you already transfered to the Outlook Exchange system, you can not read any emails in Thunderbird anymore.

Thunderbird is configured to read email throuh Imap and send emails through Smtp.

Outlook Exchange

Only for employees with computers installed by the IT department. Read more: Client_installed_computer.

Outlook Exchange is only available for employees, not students.

If you need to use a calendar (which Outlook Exchange provides), you can use something else...
