Here you will find information for lecturers, concerning the use of auditoriums and lecture rooms.

Booking of lecture rooms

The booking of lecture rooms is provided by the executives at the faculty / department / division. See here for more information on booking of rooms.

Important: External lecturers who do not have a logon account at uib (staff or student), and who wants to use the PC in the lecture room, must be given a temporary account. The department responsible for planning and scheduling lectures, must ensure that external lecturers get a temporary account if necessary. Local support personnel (PC-assistants) can not create such an account.

Software

  • New or updated software is ordered in bs.uib.no before the semester starts or at least 2 weeks before the course starts.
  • Remember to test the installation on the machines a few days in advance before the course starts. All software should be tested by a person skilled in the specific application.

Temporary account

Temporary accounts is for external users (people who don’t have a staff or student account) who need access to PCs in lecture rooms or computer labs. The account can also be used to authenticate in the wireless network. Read more about temporary accounts and other IT services for visitors.

PC-helpers and support

PC-helpers are situated near PC-labs and lecture rooms at each faculty. The PC-helpers duties are:

  • Local help with computer and audio-visual equipment in lecture rooms.
  • Assisting students with use of the computer system.
  • Shall not assist students with subject-specific issues and assignments.
  • Can not create temporary accounts.

The location and office hours for the PC-helpers can be found on Mi side (the page is in Norwegian). Phone numbers and email addresses contact support personnel in the various buildings you find in Support in lecture rooms.

Printable presentations

We recommend:

  • Do not use dark colors and backgrounds.
  • Use the text on a white background.
  • Ensure that the file size of images and graphics are not very large.

Demonstration of equipment in lecture rooms

The PC-helpers can demonstrate the equipment in classrooms prior to use. Check with the PC-helper at your faculty to make an appointment. Use the phone numbers in Support in lecture rooms.
